Any Other Photo {Mahj and Martin}

I know we say this a lot, but this time it's true.  We have been waiting for today for weeks.  Oh, Any Other Party?  Pfft, that little thing?  No.  We are beyond excited because we are posting Mahj's Any Other Photo.  Yes, Mahj, the funniest, most loyal, best phrase-coiner in the blogosphere.  Here.  On these peachy pages.  Today.

We've all been dying to know what Mahj wore on her wedding day (the Internet's most closely guarded secret) and Here.  It.  Is.  But more importantly, we've all been dying to know what Mahj felt on her wedding day.  Here.  It.  Is.  In her own words.

I actually really loved this photo when I first saw it. Then on closer inspection I thought I looked a bit cheesy but Martin looked oh-so-handsome. Then someone far wiser than me told me to shush my engines because I didn’t look cheesy, I looked happy. Really really happy. So I looked at the photo again and saw it for myself.

When I’m excited or happy, I don’t have the ability to smile in a genial and modest way (who does?). I instead wear a big sh*t eating grin and let’s face it, your wedding day should be the one day when you wear a big sh*t eating grin ALL DAY!

Literally five minutes before this photo was taken, Martin and I had been standing at the entrance to the suite where the wedding breakfast would happen, marvelling that after 2 years we had tied the knot and at the same time, trying desperately to unpin the duputta (kinda shawl thingy that was draped over my shoulder) from my outfit, because that mutha was h-e-a-v-y!

Needless to say we managed to unpin it by the time the guests started to come down the corridor to greet us, but not without hysterically giggling, lots of kissing and a bit of an assist from our events manager!

This photo was taken by one of our bridesmaids. She wanted a shot of us together and so she thrust her bouquet at Martin and snapped. I love her for that. Now that I’ve perused the photo (from every possible angle), it just screams so many things at me, but the main thing is love. I look at this photo and I remember exactly how I felt on that day, how it felt to stand beside my new husband, how every person that was coming down that corridor was so kind and sweet and happy for us and how very very happy I was. Cheesy, sh*t eating grin an’ all.
